# <a name="Truck Rental Information for the"></a> Truck Rental Information for the BRD 2004 Launch

## <a name="Requirements"></a> Requirements

- At least 18"; 20"+ is probably better
- Ramp (like UHaul) is a big plus. I don't think we need a lift, but it sure would be nice.

- We need to pick it up Wednesday morning September 8th.
- We need to drop it off Wednesday morning September 15th.
- We'll be crossing state lines (OR, CA, NV).
- The round trip length will be very cloase to 1,000 mi.

----

## <a name="Fuel cost estimates:"></a> Fuel cost estimates:

Fuel estimates for trucking to Black Rock, September 2004 are based on using regular gasoline priced between $2.20 and $2.40 a gallon. Round trip is about a thousand miles:

**"In town rates": 17' or 26' trucks available**

### <a name="Ryder"></a> Ryder

**503 283-1121 ext. 5** ( ask for Josh or Shelly )

12:39 Ted spoke with Josh at Ryder, and got this info regarding three truck rental options:

<table border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0>
  <tr>
    <td> TRUCK SIZE &amp;amp; MODEL </td>
    <td> MILES PER GALLON </td>
    <td> WEEK&#39;S RENTAL COST* </td>
    <td> MILEAGE COST </td>
    <td> INSURANCE </td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td> 16&#39; Isuzu </td>
    <td> 10 mpg </td>
    <td> $275 </td>
    <td> 0.43/0.25 dpm </td>
    <td> $10/$30 daily </td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td> 20&#39; International </td>
    <td> 7 to 8 mpg </td>
    <td> $375 </td>
    <td> 0.43/0.25 dpm </td>
    <td> $10/$30 daily </td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td> 24&#39; International </td>
    <td> 7 to 8 mpg </td>
    <td> $375 </td>
    <td> 0.43/0.25 dpm </td>
    <td> $10/$30 daily </td>
  </tr>
</table>

Summary of costs for Ryder truck Rental:

<table border=1 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0>
  <tr>
    <td>
    </td>
    <td> rent as person </td>
    <td> rent as business </td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td> 16&#39; truck </td>
    <td> $775 </td>
    <td> $735 </td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td> 20 to 24&#39; truck </td>
    <td> $875 </td>
    <td> $835 </td>
  </tr>
</table>

These price differences between renting as a person versus renting as a business come from the opposing effects of better mileage costs for businesses, but higher insurance costs for businesses, compared with same line items for individuals who rent. Ted may need to call back and ask about extra cost of ramps and lifts.

"dpm" stands for dollars per mile.

2004/09/03: $1450 deposit. $420 to rent. $390 mileage. $70 insurance. $81 tax. = $971

### <a name="PSU"></a> PSU

2004/07/19 - ADG - Called PSU motor pool. Biggest thing they have is a 1/2 ton truck. They recommended I contact PSU purchasing to see if we had any kind of deal with rental agencies. Also called Becky at the ECE office to see if she knew anything about trucks, but she didn't.
