# Igniters for the LV2c Recovery System

We need a very reliable and very small igniter for the new LV2c recovery system. They're few and far between, and they all now require an ATF license to get. What a pain!

## MJG Technologies J-Tek Electric Matches.

We found MJG Technologies (<http://www.electricmatch.com/>) which makes J-Tek and M-Tek electric matches. They look pretty similar to the Oxral's, and look like they're manufactured for reliability which is exactly what we want. After speaking with the Jeff (one of the owners of MJG), we definitely want the J-Tek igniters: the M-Teks will eventually be discontinued, and according to MJG they "They burn slower, hotter, quieter, and are less sensitive to impact and friction."

Specs:

1. 1 +/- 0.2 ohms
1. Maximum test current: 40 mA
1. Maximum no fire current: 300 mA
1. Minimum all fire: 750 mA
1. Recommended all fire current: 1.25 A
1. 40 igniters/box for 7' leads, about $72 including hazmat shipping fee.
1. Dimensions:
 - Width: 0.14 - 0.16 in
 - Thickness: 0.08 - 0.1 in
 - Height: 0.43 - 0.47 in
 - Wire: 24guage wires coming off each side of the 'chip' with 0.058 in (OD) insulation

Questions:

1. Better measurements of dimensions?
1. Joules to fire?
1. Reliability?

## Oxral Electric Match: No Such Luck

We really like the Oxral electric matches, but apparently they're out of business. People who used to sell them are:

## What else is out there?

- So what else is out there?
- Estes Igniters - not reliable
- Quest Q2 Igniters - still not very reliable, but better than Estes
  - See our [[Evaluation of the Quest Q2 Igniters|Q2IgniterEvaluation]]
- Daveyfire, Inc. SA2000 N28B, SA2000 N28BR and SA2000 N28F (but <http://www.daveyfire.com/> is "under construction")

## Others that no longer exists
